large-leaf red tea with a warming effect and notes of rye bread and lightly smoked dried fruits.
Made from high-grade leaves picked from tea trees in Yunnan. The finished leaves are tightly twisted, dense, and large, with a rich black color and noticeable golden fuzz. Strength of flavor, pleasant astringency, and fresh aroma are key characteristics of this tea.
Profile
This batch has a distinct flavor profile with pronounced bread and smoky notes in both aroma and taste.
Aroma
Sweet and fresh, with hints of baked goods, buckwheat honey, and malt.
Warmed leaves release the scent of fresh bread, intensified honey and caramel notes, and a more pronounced spiciness.
Taste
Strong and bold, with natural sweetness and notes of rye crust, smokiness, dried fruits, and honey. The aftertaste is pleasantly astringent — juicy, warm, comforting, and long-lasting.
Effect
Warming, calming, and relaxing. Helps maintain energy and focus.
Harvest
Spring (March) 2025.
How to Brew
Preheat your teaware thoroughly.
-
Gongfu brewing: Use 5–6 g of tea per 100 ml of water. Brew with boiling water. Infusion time: 5–15 seconds to taste. Good for at least 5 infusions.
-
Steeping: Use 4 g per 250 ml, steep for 3–4 minutes.
Tip
If you enjoy Dian Hong Maofeng, try the Golden Needles. Maofeng includes both buds and leaves, while the Needles consist almost entirely of fuzzy buds. They bring fruity peach-like notes and give the infusion a beautiful orange hue thanks to the golden down.
